Planning for NC Rail Run 2014 in underway

The Operations Special Interest Group (OpSIG) is pleased to announce that our popular NC Rail Run event will return to the Carolinas over Labor Day Weekend 2014.  This year's event is being coordinated by local OpSIG members.

NC Rail Run features operating layouts in several scales and covers the Raleigh, Greensboro, Hickory, and Charlotte areas of North Carolina.  Because of its proximity just across the state line in the Charlotte Metro area, one South Carolina layout is included as well.  Although any scale is covered, NC Rail Run provides a unique experience to operate on a large number of N Scale railroads.

The 2014 event will be held Friday, August 29, through Sunday, August 31.  We intend to offer two half-day sessions on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  These sessions will run approximately four hours each. We also intend to offer full-day sessions (six or more hours) on several larger railroads.  The all-day session is a new feature in response to attendee feedback.  Some operators enjoy sampling operations on as many railroads as possible, while others prefer more in-depth sessions on fewer railroads.

We're pleased to offer some new layouts this year as well, including something for Western Maryland fans and Clinchfield fans, among others.

Registration details will be made available soon.  Attendees will be able to sign up for individual railroads based on operating slots available at each railroad.  Typically we try to regionalize the layout offerings so attendees do not have to drive great distances between sessions unless they choose to.

We look forward to seeing you over Labor Day Weekend!
